ECT Program

Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) Program is considered for patients who are suffering from depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and/or other psychiatric disorders.  ECT is most often used in the treatment of severe depression where the patient has not responded to medications or psychotherapy.

Here at Delmont Private, ECT is conducted under the direct supervision of a psychiatrist, an aneasthetist and the ECT nursing staff.  Services provided include complete inpatient or day patient ECT evaluations and an information exchange with interested patients and families when appropriate.  ECT is generally started during an inpatient stay, but may also be available on an day patient basis depending on individual circumstances. Maintenance treatment is also available as appropriate.
